Huntingdon County Commissioners, along with a representative from State Senator Judy Ward’s office, joined the three co-owners of Upward Broadband to celebrate the launch of a high-speed internet network serving Huntingdon County.
“This project wouldn’t have happened without Huntingdon County and their decision to put some money into broadband”, stated Tim Beiler, co-owner of Upward Broadband. “It was a pretty fast timeline to get these seven towers on the air. It’s been a little bit of a stressful last few months, not only because of our contractual agreements, but I really sensed the need for broadband in some of these rural areas… For a lot of people, it’s not just convenience, it’s an issue of livelihood in 2020 to have reliable high-speed internet.”
“This is just a great day for Huntingdon County”, said Jeff Thomas, Huntingdon County Commissioner. “It’s finally here, folks… Kids will be able to go to school from home when it’s shutdown. People will be off of unemployment – those that are able to work from home.”
