How it Works.
Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISP) supply a fast, reliable, cost-effective internet solution for people in underserved areas.
WISPs provide fixed wireless internet service, which is different from the wireless internet used by mobile phones. In the simplest terms, a WISP broadcasts internet from one access point to multiple fixed locations. To receive the signal, your home or business generally needs a line of sight from the access point to your reception device (typically on an exterior wall or roof).
Most WISP customers are within 10 miles of the main access point. As a result, WISP users will experience speeds comparable to or greater than most cable providers, and surpass the speeds available from DSL and Satellite.
